A new addition to the Volunteer Marin team!

June 27, 2011

Vera de Ferarri (R) works with students on learning English phrasesOur Volunteer Services department was excited a few weeks ago to welcome our new associate, Vera De Ferrari, to the team.  We wanted for you to get to know Vera as well, so you can recognize her at Flex Projects, volunteer socials, or just out and about in Marin!

Vera is a Marin County native and still calls Terra Linda her home.  She comes to Volunteer Marin with a breadth of work Vera, center out at the Bahia Bay Restoration Flex Projectexperience, both in the nonprofit and public sector, and has a MPA from Sonoma State University under her belt.  Her last position was with Alpine Meadow Ski Resort in North Lake Tahoe, where she enjoyed putting her business skills to work in between spending days on the sunny slopes.

Throughout her life Vera has also been an avid swimmer and enjoys hitting the pool in the early morning.  She has already brought an enthusiasm and sense of humor to our open office environment, and we are excited to see the big things she does for Volunteer Marin in the near future.

When asked why she likes to volunteer, Vera says “It’s a family tradition! My mom and dad gave to our community through our weekly donation of bananas to the local Carmelite Nuns, volunteering to run swim meets, leading Girl Scout Troops, and assisting Hospice By the Bay. Through these experiences my gratitude and appreciation of our community grew and continues to grow. I feel the energy you get when you give is the best benefit to volunteering. Now I live the dream on a daily basis.”  She is already lending a hand at our Flex Volunteer Program projects (pictures throughout), and we hope you’ll be able to volunteer alongside her this Summer!
